Matthew Imai, Chief, Policy and Compliance Review Division

Matthew Imai began his career with the State of California with State Compensation Insurance Fund. He also worked for the California Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Insurance. In 2009, he joined the State Personnel Board and was fortunate to gain over 15 years of experience as an analyst, specialist, supervisor, and manager. In 2026, he proudly joined the State Personnel Board’s Executive Staff as the Chief of the Policy and Compliance Review Division.

Matthew graduated from the University of California at Davis with a bachelor’s degree in English.
