Discussion 6
Hi again job analysts-
I wanted to put this in a separate e-mail because it's somewhat of a specialized topic.
For those of you that utilize Microsoft Excel, I've put together a spreadsheet in Excel 2000 that I hope will make our lives easier. I haven't actually used it yet, but I look forward to doing so.
What I did was create a document that you can send to your SMEs to do their ratings. It contains three "sheets":
- The first sheet contains instructions for the raters (this can be modified for your needs)
- The second page contains the tasks along with the rating "bubbles"; you can simply plug your tasks into this page (the tasks listed are simply examples)
- The third page contains the raw data, which should not be modified.
The advantage of using something like this are many: 1) It makes it easier for your SMEs to do their ratings and is more "user friendly" than a simple matrix; 2) The SMEs don't have to worry about numbers at all; 3) It increases data input accuracy; and last but not least 4) It makes data input on your part easier.
You'll notice on the third sheet ("Coding") that there are two columns--CT and FR. These contain the numerical values that correspond to the bubbles the SMEs have selected for Criticality (CT) and Frequency (FR)--by the way, Frequency is the same as Relative Time Spent. All you have to do is copy and paste these into your calculation spreadsheet for each SME, run your averages, etc. and voila!
The rating sheet contains spaces for 100 tasks; if you need to add more tasks, it's relatively easy and I would be happy to guide you through it. If you find this useful, let me know. I'll work on doing the same for KSA ratings.
