Welcome to the State Personnel Board

Interpreter Services Notice Instructions

To create a poster, print this page and then follow the step-by-step instructions:

  1. Place your cursor in the arrow box to the right of the "Click Here to Select a Language" button to reveal the selection box of non-English languages. Click on the desired language name contained in the drop-down list.

  2. Repeat the first step, to select the next two non-English languages that will appear on the poster.
  3. The languages will appear on the poster in the order in which they are displayed in the three drop-down boxes (English will always appear as the first language). If you wish to change the order, you can go to the applicable drop-down box and select a different non-English language.
  4. Go to the Menu Bar and select "File" and click on "Page Setup". Ensure that the paper size is set to "11x17" or tabloid. You must have a printer that can produce 11x17 documents or it will not appear in the drop down-box. If you have a printer that can produce 11x17 documents, you will need to click on the "printer" button in the lower right hand corner. Select the appropriate printer and go to the printer properties. Select 11x17 or tabloid as the paper size and then click "OK" until you return back to "Page Setup" dialogue box. The paper size should now display as "11 x 17" or tabloid. If you do not have a printer that can produce this size document, you will not be able to create a 11x17 poster. See below for information on ordering a poster from the SPB.
  5. Check the margin settings to ensure they reflect: Left 0.25, Right 0.25, Top 0.166 and Bottom 0.166. Click "OK" and you will return to the poster page.
  6. Click on the "Create (11x17) Poster" button. Please be patient, as it takes a few minutes for the poster to be generated into a .pdf document. The poster should appear on the desktop. Please Note: Adobe Acrobat must be installed on your computer to generate the poster.
  7. Go to the Menu Bar and select "File" and click on "Print". The poster should print with all four languages displayed. If it does not, go back and check you margin settings and change them as indicated in Step 5. Please Note: After the poster is printed you will need to fill in the Name and Telephone Number blanks on the poster. A suggestion for ensuring the legibility of the information is to utilize a label maker, with a clear label, and affix it in the applicable spaces.
  8. If you wish to save the poster you will need to go to the Adobe Menu Bar and click on the save icon (picture of a floppy disk) in the upper right corner of the tool bar. This will open a "Save a Copy" dialogue box. You can name the document and indicate where the document is to be saved.

If you are unable to generate the 11x17 poster, you may request that SPB provide this service. Please use the required order form - PDF document and submit it with the applicable payment. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please contact the Bilingual Services Program at (916) 651-9017 or by e-mail at BSP@spb.ca.gov
